"Why Vinyl Matters", Interview with Dr. Jennifer Otter Bickerdike

Dr. Jennifer Otter Bickerdike is a media and music academic, specialising in fan culture, the cult of dead celebrity, pop culture and music.

Jen was kind enough to spend some time with us to talk about her latest book "Why Vinyl Matters", a manifesto about the importance of vinyl as a cultural object featuring interviews with a variety of vinyl fans, including Tim Burgess, Henry Rollins, Fatboy Slim and our very own MD Karen Emanuel.

The book is a must-have for every vinyl lover (and newbie) to read about other vinyl lovers and how this incredible format influenced their lives by making them the people they are today.

On October 26th Dr. Jennifer Otter Bickerdike with Terry Hall (The Specials), and Julia Ruzicka (Future of the Left) will all be in-store at Rough Trade East for a very special panel discussion for the launch of "Why Vinyl Matters" book.

Now, do you want to know how Fatboy Slim got his first deejay gig? Or how Mike Ness bought his first record player? Watch the video!
