Release of the Month: The Wombats' “Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life”

Liverpool’s very own three-piece band, The Wombats with; Matthew Murphy, lead vocalist and guitarist, Dan Haggis,  drummer and Tord Øverland Knudsen, bassist, have been together since 2003. Now signed to 14th Floor Records in the UK and Bright Antenna in the US, the band has sold over 1 million copies of their albums worldwide and has released their fourth album after 3 years; Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life this year.

First making a name for themselves with their single Let’s Dance to Joy Division in 2007, The Wombats went on to win Best Dancefloor Filler at the NME Awards in 2008 whilst also being nominated for Best New Band, Best Track, Best Album at XFM New Music Awards and  Best UK & Ireland New Act at MTV Europe Music Awards, all in the same year.

Murphy says that he “was pushing for the [new] album to be more organic and less synth-driven.” Much reciprocated by fans as they listen to Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, as many felt that this album is like a resurgence of their classic style with a fresh twist. Singles like “Turn” and “Lemon to a Knife Fight”  have been met with positive critical and fans' response and generated a great buzz for the album. Even greater buzz has been triggered by the announcement of the band's worldwide tour starting in March 2018 in Paris. The Wombats will also be touring in the UK, Australia, United States throughout this year to promote their album.

The Boxset we are thrilled to have worked on with Kobalt Music Group includes; both vinyl LP and CD versions of Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life with a 12-page booklet with photos, artwork and a signed print.
