Record Store Day 2018 Releases Preview

Record Store Day is once again just around the corner! if you haven't made your wishlist yet, don't worry. We have you covered. 

The Record Store Day gives music fans the rare occasion to grab some of the coolest releases on our most beloved format - vinyl.

This year, we delivered a great number of records and as always we're proud and excited to see them on the record stores shelves on such a special day.

To whet your appetite, we photographed some of the releases Key Production manufactured for 2018’s Record Store Day.

The Alarm "Where the Two Rivers Meet" 12 Vinyl, [INgrooves/21st Century]

The first public release of brand new material since 2013. EP with 8 tracks that serve as prelude to a full-length album scheduled for May 4th 2018. Steven Wilson).

Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine "101 Damnations" 12 Vinyl Double LP, [Jungle Records]

Their debut album, first time on vinyl since 1990.  Limited edition black splatters on white vinyl. 

 

Merzbow, Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Balazs Pandi "Cuts Up, Cuts Out", [Rarenoise]

‘Cuts Up, Cuts Out’ is the second release by the free/noise quartet formed by Japanese noise master Masami Akita (a.k.a. Merzbow), Swedish saxophone giant Mats Gustafsson, legendary American guitarist and composer Thurston Moore and Hungarian überdrummer Balazs Pandi on RareNoiseRecords. Following on their celebrated 2015 and well reviewed first recording ‘Cuts Of Guilt, Cuts Deeper’, which made RollingStone Magazine’s list of 20 best Avant Albums of 2015, ‘Cuts Up, Cuts Out’ is a snapshot of the four musician’s uncanny groupthink during a live performance at the Church of St John at Hackney at the end of September 2016. Spanning the highly exotic manifold of music dimensions of free noise, free and spiritual jazz and grindcore, ‘Cuts Up, Cuts Out’ will cathartically renew and elevate the listeners' Geist from the inside. Printed in 500 copies worldwide/includes download code/gold vinyl.
 

Celtic Frost "Tragic Serenades" 12 Picture Disc, [Noise]

This is a replica of the limited edition, 1986 12” picture disc single by Swiss avant garde thrash metal trio Celtic Frost. This EP has been out of print for over 30 years. 

 

Curved Air "Air Conditioning" 12 Picture Disc, [Esoteric]

A facsimile of the first ever rock picture disc LP originally released in 1970.

A unique 3 LP set featuring the classic LP from 1980 plus two bonus LPs of a live concert recorded in Lewisham, London in 1980 recently remixed from the original multi-track tapes. Unreleased on vinyl, it also features a replica tour programme from the 1980 "Levitation" UK tour. Blue Vinyl. 

 

Hayseed Dixie "It Happened So Grassed! Live in Scotland"  12 Vinyl Double LP, [Hayseed Dixie Records ]

This is the first official live recording released by the band, recorded to multitrack and meticulously mixed entirely analogue.

 

Ian Siegal "Sh*t Hit" 12 LP, [Nugene]

Transparent Turquoise Vinyl Includes free 3^ tattoo Limited Edition vinyl featuring 7 key tracks from new album 'All The Rage' The Sh*t Hit by Ian Siegal is a collection of 7 new songs available on vinyl exclusively for RSD. This limited edition of 500 is on Turquoise vinyl and comes with a rub-on tattoo of the Sh*t Hit symbol (much like a radioactive warning sign).

Kreator "Behind The Mirror" 12 Picture Disc, [Noise]

This is a replica of the limited edition, 1987 12” picture disc single by Germany’s finest thrash metal quartet, Kreator. It has been unavailable for over 30 years.

Sparks "You've Earned The Right To Be A Dick"  7 Picture Disc, [BMG]

It’s a 7” picture disc cut out in the shape of the Hippo head on the front cover of the album. There’s a double-sided insert included in a clear plastic bag. Previously unreleased track outside of Japan (physical Japan only CD) ‘You’ve Earnt The Right To Be A Dick’ is a track taken from the ‘Hippopotamus’ album sessions.

Exclusive remix 2LP of the shoegaze pioneer’s first album in over 20 years. The Remix's have been put together with love and care by fans and friends of the band, from Mogwai to Cavern of Anti-Matter, especially for RSD.

35th Anniversary reissue of Punk rock icons collaboration (UK SUBS’ Charlie Harper and Alvin Gibbs together with THE VIBRATORS’ Knox) debut album in limited RED vinyl, + bonus, previously unreleased live LP.  First time on vinyl since the original 1983 release.


 

Voivod  "Too Scared To Scream"  12 Picture Disc LP, [Noise]

This is a replica of the limited edition, 1987 12” picture disc single by Canadian progressive, thrash metal quartet Voivod. Recorded during the sessions for their cult album ‘Killing Technology’ the two songs featured haven’t been available on vinyl for 30 years.  The artwork for the cover was also designed by long standing drummer and artist, Michel ‘Away’ Langevin.

 

Courtney Barnett "City Looks Pretty/ Sunday Roast", [Marathon Artists]

Exclusively for Record Store Day Courtney Barnett releases a new track 'City Looks Pretty' + for a limited time only you'll be able to hear album track 'Sunday Roast' only via this 12"! After the release of the critically acclaimed 'Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit' and the 'Lotta Sea Lice' collaboration with Kurt Vile, a life on the road and all of its quirks appears on track 'City Looks Pretty' while 'Sunday Roast' sees Courtney her most reflective & emphatic self in a beautiful down tempo moment. A release that perfectly captures the many facets of Courtney's upcoming second album 'Tell Me How You Really Feel' released May 18th.

Various Artists - Rock Steady Box  "Rock Steady Box"  10x7 Box, [Trojan / BMG]

Rock steady originated in Jamaica in the summer of 1966 and for the next two years dominated the island’s musical landscape. During this brief, yet intensely creative period, many of the foundation stones for the modern Jamaican music industry were laid by some of the greatest talents ever to emerge on the Caribbean music scene. This vinyl brings together reproductions of 10 of the most collectable rock steady 7” singles of all time. Pressed on high quality vinyl and presented in stylishly designed sleeves, the 10 x 7” box also contains a card insert featuring a fascinating essay on the development of the rock steady sound.

DELUXE BOX SET featuring Manfred Mann's 4 albums released 1964-1967. Remastered, manufactured on heavy duty vinyl, with new sleeve notes written by members of the band. The box set also includes a DVD featuring interviews and footage of four members of the band, filmed in 2017, as well as a high-quality artwork print of the classic 60s band.
