This Friday key players of the independent music sector will be at Indie-Con for a day of workshops, panels, presentations and interviews.
The event, organised by AIM and supported by crowdmix, speaks to both artists and record labels and aims to shine a light on how successfully running an independent music business and get your music heard.
This year, we’re delighted to be among the speakers. Our MD Karen Emanuel will be part of the panel titled “For the Record” to answer the question “What’s working in physical music?”
With her, Rupert Morrison (The Drift Record Shop), John Leahy (Ignition Records), Bronya Francis (Warp Records), Glenn Dicker (Redeye & Yep Roc Music Group) and Mark Sutherland (Editor, Music Week).
11.35am - For the Record (upstairs)
While all eyes are on streaming, something strange and magical is going on in the background of the music industry…people are BUYING music. Sales of vinyl and creatively packaged boxset and special edition products are on the increase and independent record stores are thriving. The emphasis is on quality items, and the profit margins for labels are high.
